Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
