19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
