An individual who laced candy with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the activities, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the police about his concerns.
She stated the defendant continued to play the "treat game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities a second time.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five children.
