Large-scale Moscow's Attacks Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to water systems, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor died and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes succeed evenings of air raids in the territory, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with attacks already affecting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and authorities were anticipating more assaults.
